I currently enjoy serving as Managing Director of AppTek in Germany and overseeing our operations in Spain. This is the epicenter of AppTek’s science team. AppTek also has scientists based in the United States as well as a few freelance researchers.

The company enjoys a strong reputation for building competitive, state-of-the-art language technology systems and is proud to serve several of the world’s largest IT companies. AppTek is also a well-known name in the media and entertainment industry.

I maintain a close connection to RWTH Aachen University, in particular to Professors Hermann Ney and Ralf Schlüter.

My role often involves bridging the gap between the commercial and the scientific-technical worlds. In building successful language-technology-based systems and services, understanding either the customer side or the scientific side alone is rarely enough. True success usually depends on being able to understand and connect both worlds.
